Between 2013 and 2015 The Netherlands is celebrating 200 years of being a Kingdom. In this period of time 200 years ago the first Dutch King set foot in the country, the Dutch constitution was formed and several defining institutions were formed.
With zootz we won the pitch for this celebration for the campaign held in The Hague, the Royal city of the Netherlands. Several big events are taking place during these two years for which we made all the communication. As a result of the success we were asked to make the campaign style and the campaign images for the national events in other cities in The Netherlands as well.
The objective was to connect the past to the present through a style that stood out of the crowd. We advised on how to give the events shape and were responsible for the design of the campaigns.
A short list of the events:
1. Landing of King Willem the 1st. (November 2013)
We made a magazine which describes the the history of the Kingdom in relation to the Royal City of The hague. During this event the King and Queen of The Netherlands were present when this historical happening was performed on the shore of Scheveningen. (You might find my bun peeking out of the audience behind the King and Queen…)
2. Constitution Festival (March 2014)
During this festival lots of national and historical government buildings were open for the audience. This hardly ever happens and the whole festival had around 80.000 visitors! The whole city was full of stuff I made.
3. Hello World (National event in Maastricht, August 2014)
The international orientation of The Netherlands was celebrated with a flair of fashion, food and international speakers in Maastricht.
4. 200 Years of Prinsjesdag (september 2014)
Traditionally the third Tuesday in September the yearly budgetary is presented to the nation. This is a happening every year, but this year was special because of the Kingdom celebration. In total it were four days of events.
5. Zwolle… (April 2015) working on it right now!
